Two historical illustrations given in the narrative are the relations between the Puritans and the Indians, and the first Thanksgiving. Two religious illustrations given in the narrative are how the Puritans achieved their religious mission and Gods vast presence throughout their journey. These illustrations provide the reader with reassurance that these events actually happened.
