Published in 1816, Mary Shelley's novel, Frankenstein, has entertained and horrified readers across the globe. Many critics consider Frankenstein to be a Romantic novel. As a Romantic novel, Frankenstein contains the belief, humans are good, but can be corrupted by the demands of industrialized society.
