The Prophet Jesus

Jesus lived His life as the Son of God and our Savior, but He also lived a career of a prophet. Jesus is the greatest prophet because of His out of the ordinary, but unique ways of fulfilling the fifteen prophetic characteristics to the greatest extent. Matthew 21:12-17, titled The Cleansing of the Temple, it states, "Jesus entered the temple are and drove out all those engaged in selling and buying there. He overturned the tables of money changers and those selling doves...." Jesus gets totally involved; not verbally, but PHYSICALLY by showing them their sins. The parable of the Good Samaritan shows how Jesus challenges His country. When the beaten Jewish man was on the ground, no one offered to help, not a priest or a Levite because they are to stay ritually clean before entering the Temple in Jerusalem. Only the Samaritan helps the Jewish man and pays for his recovery. Samaritans and Jews are traditionally enemies this is why it is ironic. Jesus confronts the "holy." He told them to stop their hypocrisy like the pharisees, scribes, and high priests who try to show their greatness through their clothes and homes. This is the best example of how Jesus hammers the holy. Jesus says there was no need to collect wealth in this life, but you must preoccupy yourselves with the affairs of Heaven because it would be everlasting.

We are prophets today by how we challenge the country and that we walk in protest for marches against things that the church does not believe in. Such protests are ones that contradict what the church believes in. We get totally involved in our society when we give food to the poor or when we give our time to the hungry in homeless shelters. We hammer the holy when we denounce people when they make scanty remarks against the church's beliefs. Jesus calls me to be a prophet by fulfilling the teachings of the prophets in the Old Testament and by teaching others to do the same.
