The Gangs among Us

Gangs have been around since the early 1900's and we have learned to live with them. Laws are broken to prove dominance yet simple community favors also exist among these groups. The gangs in America have grown to be so large that they can't be stopped altogether. There have been many attempts but only a few have remained; they only slow down the gangs, not stop them. There have been gang units, gang homicide investigators, and drug and gun-tracking units that assist our police departments, but it just isn't enough. The influence on the teens of America is very strong and convincing, which brings them into these gangs. There are thousands of gang homicides every year, which affect the community families. Ninety three percent of the homicides in L.A. last year were gang related. Los Angeles County alone had over 6,000 homicides in 2002. Fortunately...
