Must See TV, or Too Much TV?

Summary: An essay on the degree to which television and technology have taken a toll on standards of living and people's well-being. Television's influence on parental guidance, the increasing rate of unhealthy living, and exhibitions of inappropriate behavior may all be factors that negatively affect our children.
The average Canadian family would describe a Monday night at home with everyone gathered around the television, engrossed in their favourite TV shows for hours on end. Has this become the new definition of "quality family time?" As a child grows, they experience life changing aspects, which help the effects of television become a standard. So what effects does television really have on children today? Maybe the guidance of parenting, the increasing rate of unhealthy living and the use of inappropriate behaviour become a factor in effects in children. By a time a child is ready for kindergarten, he or she would have spent more hours watching television, then a student attending college spending four years getting their education upgraded to new heights. Will television end all reality? Of course not! There's always reality shows to make up for that too!
