Summary: Through examining a range of texts including `Lord of the Flies', `The Unknown Citizen', and `The Pedestrian', I have come to a conclusion of my understanding of conformity. And this is society holds everyone together, it creates Mr Average who complies correspondingly with a given set of rules. At the same time it disapproves those who do not follow the rules a community has set.
We humans are influenced by our environment on a regular basis. We are most likely to inherit certain trends or styles which our surrounding community highly regard. The definition of society is a body of individuals living as members of a community. Conformity is defined as an act accordingly to certain accepted standards. Through examining a range of texts including `Lord of the Flies', `The Unknown Citizen', and `The Pedestrian', I have come to a conclusion of my understanding of conformity. And this is society holds everyone together, it creates Mr Average who complies correspondingly with a given set of rules. At the same time it disapproves those who do not follow the rules a community has set. Without society's regulations our inner savagery which I believe is hidden inside us all will rule over civilisation.
