Aristotle's Influence on Alexander the Great

Summary: Aristotle was a childhood teacher of Alexander the Great. And as such, his teachings on philosophy greatly influenced Alexander as he conquered most of the known ancient world in the third century BC.

Aristotle was a man who focused on the philosophy of the surrounding world. Alexander the Great was a leader who inherited a throne and embarked on a campaign of conquest. At first glance these two characters look as if they have nothing in common, one a thinker and the other a leader. The fact is Alexander the Great would not have been able to accomplish what he had if not for the teachings and guidance of the great Aristotle.

Alexander the Great was born in 356 B.C. to King Phillip II. He was taught at an early age that he was the descendents of ancient Greek Gods and that greatness was expected from him. At age 13 he was guided and taught under Aristotle where he learned many of life lessons. When Alexander was only twenty his father was killed and he took throne of Macedonia. He then embarked...
