"It Is Circumstance That Enables Us to Reinvent Ourselves and the World around Us"

Summary:   As a result of circumstances, people are often forced to, or make conscious decisions to, reinvent their perspectives on life, their ideology and beliefs in order to adapt to changed situations. This concept of both forced and conscious reinventions as a result of circumstance are captured by the texts "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel and "The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar" a children's short story by Roald Dahl.


Reinventions are constantly occurring within ourselves and the world around us, the most significant of such reinventions however are those that are triggered or sparked by particular event or circumstance. As a result of circumstances, people are often forced to, or make conscious decisions to, reinvent their perspectives on life, their ideology and beliefs in order to adapt to changed situations. This concept of both forced and conscious reinventions as a result of circumstance are captured by the texts "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel and "The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar" a children's short story by Roald Dahl. The concept of reinventing oneself and perception of the world, as a result of circumstance beyond the individuals control, is also particularly explored in the texts "The Prince and the Magician" from Magus by John Fowles and.....
