There are some unbelievable animals living on the farm. They are all so different. Some are very important and hold important positions on the farm and some are nameless to me. My four assistants that help me get everything accomplished are Napoleon, Powder, Mollie and Copernicus.
First, Napoleon. He is quite the character, and he does everything for the whole and never for himself. This pig has enough leadership for the entire farm, he loves to stand up for what he believes in and take control. Then there is Powder, a female lion, who brightens up an entire room with her optimistic attitude. She is always a satisfying delight to be around, especially when someone is in need of encouragement. Mollie, a petit princess poodle, feels that all the attention belongs to her. She also would rather get treats or be pampered rather than have to do work. Last, but not least, Copernicus, the monkey. He deals with all the behind-the-scene work, such as the bills and dealing with the humans. Copernicus is the brains of the farm He does this remarkably well.
Anyways, the next morning everything began as usual. Most of the animals were at work or helping around at the farm. I soon noticed, not one, but all of my assistants were missing. I was worried because they are not one to be causing mischief or gossiping together. Although, I did overhear them complain last week about the workload gaining up. I was tending to my usual business until I noticed a banana peal on the wooden floor. I immediately through it away and wondered if Copernicus came to the office this morning, or any of the others. Then underneath the peel, there was a flyer that was advertising tryouts for the "Cilly Circus" at 12pm, today.
It was currently a quarter to twelve and I put the puzzle together and went to the city. I got there ten minutes later with the idea that Copernicus was trying out and the rest went to cheer him on. Copernicus went to a two year circus school before he came to the farm. Maybe he thought his future needed a different path. I walked in and immediately seen a very long line, ending outside the door with about 300 animals, and two sets of bleachers, with scouts and others watching. Then, I had seen a ring leader, a tall giraffe, instructing everyone, where to go and what to do. Then I seen Napoleon, Powder, Millie and Copernicus. I was going to march up to them and command them to go back to where they belong. However, for my amusement only, I decided to sit and watch, before they would see me. They are about twenty others in front of them, so I wait until they are up.
First, Copernicus hands him a application sheep and does his trick. He swings from one trapees to another, then swinging down two poles. It was quite entertaining. Then, Napoleon was up. He gave the ring man the sheep and asked for a hula hope on fire. Then immediate ran though it. He did it very gracefully and the crowd seemed to be amused. After setting up, Powder nervously gave the guy the paper and shuddered with no movement. Powder said "one second" and started to cry. He then realized that he was peer pressured to do this and wants nothing to do with being on stage. He cried "I have a costume, Ill be right back." He goes in the changing room and gathered all his curage to go out there and give it his all. Powder walkson stage with his costume and juggles fire sticks while doing a corny dance. Then bows and skips directly into the changing room. Powder comes into the ring and Mollie is prancing in circles carrying a beach ball and balancing a book on his head.
They all met up and walked to a corner near the ring where I could lightly here them. They were congratulating each there and thanking the lord for this opportunity and hoping to all get accepted. Napoleon asked a man that had a Circus uniform on, a question "Sir, when should we here about the auditions?" and the man said "Tomorrow at 12pm." Then they left and I walked to the bus and went back to the farm. When I got back, I sat at my desk and pretended I was working, even though I could not take my mind off my assistants. I never felt such betrayal in a relationship.
They all entered the farm office and said nothing. Then Napoleon said "Wilson, we feel terrible, we had an emergency, sorry, we would all have rather spent our time here, Sir." I was furious that they would do that to me, lie, in front of my face. I wonder what they have gotten away with in the past. I said "Mollie, what was the emergency?" She said "Well, just...you know..." then Napoleon jumped in "her mother died! She is just upset right now!."
My heart was crushed. I truly loved them, they were the reason I came to work. I cried "How could you all stand here with your pride and lie to me like this, I must have been crazy to think that we are all like family. I know where you all were, there is no excuses for what you have done, go to your homes, and don't come to work tomorrow!" They immediately left. I felt bad for yelling at them, but they deserved it. They all know wrong lying is. I went to my room and fell right asleep because I could think about them anymore.
The next morning I say them taking the bus at about twelve, going to the circus ring. I didn't care one bit. They came back about an twenty minutes later, they walked into my office and I had not tolerance for anyone them. They came in to tell me that theywent to the circus, got out of the bus and went back to the farm. None of them cared if they had made it. If they did, none of them wanted it. I cried and I know that they are great animals and I would have been a sad farmer if I lost them. ...
