"The Third Man": Screenplay vs. Movie

Summary: A comparison/contrast essay between different versions of "The Third Man," comparing Graham Greene's screenplay and Carol Reed's movie.
The Third Man was a screenplay, which was also made into a film. The film and screenplay are similar, but not the exact same as one another. Graham Greene wrote the screenplay, and Carol Reed directed the movie. The two literature pieces were different in the sense of the time it took to read compared to watch, the script, and the mood. The sense of what was going on was contradictory, in a sense, to one another, being the movie and screenplay.

The mood of the screenplay and the movie can be very different. When a ninth grade class reads Harry Lime's line, "As soon as I get to the bottom of this, I'll get the next plane," the reader might not put as much emotion into it as Harry did.
