Summary: Chapter-by-chapter summary of Michael Crichton's "The Andromeda Strain," a science-fiction thriller.
The first chapter starts with two men, one of a man named Roger Shawn looked through his binoculars. He was looking at a town called Piedmont. Both of them were there to retrieve a scoop capsule which was launched into the upper atmosphere of earth to analyze that part of the atmosphere. They couldn't just drive straight to the satellite and retrieve it they had to zig-jag to it. They had been doing this for six hours and they were almost to the satellite. Shawn glanced through his binoculars too see that he could see any signs of life. Then he tells his teammate who's name is Lewis Crane that they should go and have a look.
