The country of Somalia is known to the United Nations as a corrupted and war torn country. Somalia is known as an international disaster as well as a place of massive starvation, where the life span is shorter than average. Somalia's past is proof of this fighting and hostility of which it has suffered. The issues started in 1962 when the Soviet Union made a substantial deal with Somalia that would give Somali's military aid, supplying them with weapons. Over the years, groups know as military militia began to rise up as "War Lords" and the leaders of these groups began causing problems in the country. The greatest amount occurred in the Capitol city of Mogadishu, known to the United States military as the Mog. Years of warfare among rival militia have caused starvation.
