He left his company to his four nephews by the names of Sigmund, Jacob, Louis and Abraham Stern. In 1928 Walter Haas became president and stayed president until 1955.

In 1939 soldiers wore their Levi pants and jackets overseas during World War II. Children and teenagers wore jeans because they had saw movie stars wearing jeans in the movies which influenced them to wear jeans. Cowboys' wore their jeans because they needed something that was comfortable when they were on a saddle. They also wore jeans because the jeans looked good with the cowboy boots they wore. Mechanics and other workers wore jeans because they work in grimy environments.
Jeans would not have gotten to where they are today without Levi Strauss, the man and the Levi Company. Jeans have changed in several ways including their style and their consumers. The people who wear jeans have worn them for many different reasons.
