Antigone

Summary: A short essay on Antigone.
We anticipate the defending side will try and do many things in order to prove that Creon is not the bad guy. The other side is going to attempt to try and make Creon look like a nice guy, someone that everyone loves and who would hurt no one. They will also attack Ismene by saying that she is very weak. We are going to counteract that by saying that Creon has known Ismene her whole life and he knows that she is a weak person. He knew that if he had killed Antigone then Ismene would not be happy about it. The defending side will most likely go and say that it isn't Creon's fault that Ismene had no other friends but Antigone. We are going to counteract that by saying that since Creon has known her and is like a father to her, that he should know that Ismene isn't a social person and knew that Ismene confided in Antigone and no one else yet he was still stubborn and insisted on going on with his plan of action. He should have changed his mind because Antigone and Ismene are his family and family should be more important then trying to prove to the people that he can be a good leader. The defending side will say that it wasn't Creon's fault that Ismene wasn't social. They will say that Ismene has had her whole life to become a social person and to confide in other people besides Antigone, but it certainly isn't Creon's fault that Ismene had no one to confide in. There were other kids and adults that Ismene could have gone to talk to about her issues. We are going to counteract that by saying we feel that Ismene took a huge step in going to a therapist and she started working on being able to talk to others about her issues. It is also very normal for a child who had lost a parent that they had in fact been close to, to learn the ways of being anti-social and to cling on to the person they were next closest with because they want nothing bad to happen to them.
