Stress and the Consumption of Alcohol

Summary:   People often turn to alcohol to relieve their stress. In fact, however, alcohol provides only temporary relief and actually causes more stress for those who consume it as well as physical and emotional damage. Other methods of coping with stress that should be considered before turning to alcohol are mentioned here.

Stress often causes people mental anxiety and physical distress. It often leads to the consuming of alcohol. People tend to go to alcohol to run away from there problems and to feel free from stress. This is only a temporary feeling, but the aftermath is that it causes more problems for you. Alcohol is a depressant to your body. At the time of the effect it has on you don't have any worries but when that effect goes away they will go back to being worried and stressed.

Stress often comes from the workplace or at home. These are the places where stress is provoked. Someone in a busy schedule will most likely to experience stress more likely then someone with a more laid back one. People often think that alcohol is their solution for resolving there stress but not only are they causing them more stress, but they're causing physical damage to their bodies.

The consumption of Alcohol is very bad for your liver and other organs in the body. It can cause serious effects to your mental state over time. Oftenly people turn to alcohol for help instead of going to other people such as close friends, family, pastors, or counselors. They usually don't stop to think about what they're doing to themselves. As a direct effect of consuming alcohol it destroys relationships with family and friends and can even get you fired from the job. That's one of the many problems it can come with.

To manage this stress and to avoid all these problems you should first count to 10 and breathe in and breathe out when experiencing any type of stress. First realize that this stress can easily be handled with and that you can find other ways in coping with it. If you can't seem to fully resolve your stress you should go to others for help.

Try talking to your boss if you're having difficulties at work or at school, it would be your teacher. This way you can both work out ways in reducing your problems. If you don't seek advice or help you may just be on your way to a downward spiral effect that will cause more havoc in your life. The use of alcohol will not only cause more stress for yourself but also for your family and friends. People around you will start getting tired of your behaviors and stress patterns and soon wouldn't be able to cope with it much longer.

It only gets worse when you don't seek help. Many diseases can come from the use of alcohol. Alcohol will prevent you from living a healthy life both physically and mentally. Instead of trying to get temporary gratification you should it, because it's only a temporary problem. You should always first try to cope with your stress, and go on with life. Not saying just put that aside and let it come back and bite you in the but, but if its not worth the worry and time then just move on.

If stress is getting the better of you then seek professional help from a trained professional. If things get worse you should go to a rehab for alcoholics and discuss with other people how this affects your life. Stress can only be solved by you facing your problems and not running away from it.

So in conclusion, "Don't let stress get the best of you." Fight your problems away instead of running from them. Alcohol is the last thing you would want to do. Three beginning steps to fighting stress is to: 1-take a deep breath, and count to ten, 2- think of positive things, 3- think of good ways in resolving it.
