Summary: On December 21, 1879 Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili was born in Gori, Georgia, the eastern edge of the Black Sea in the Caucasus Mountains. Stalin gained the power of supreme leader and abandoned Lenin's cautious approach to economic policy and brought agriculture, commerce, and industry under government control. As many as 25 million farmers were forced into giant collective farms, and those who refused were killed or sent off to a prison camp.

On December 21, 1879 Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili was born in Gori, Georgia, the eastern edge of the Black Sea in the Caucasus Mountains. He was called Soso, which is Georgean for Joseph. His parents were liberated from serfdom as children. His dad (Vissarion) was a cobbler while his mom (Yekaterina) was a washerwoman and a domestic servant at the richer houses. Vissarion was drunk a lot and often beat Joseph. This made him resent his father and soon developed rebellious streaks against him. His mom on the other hand was kind and relieved Joseph in his times of pain.

In school Joseph learned Russian. Which was a good for him later on in his life. He made good grades and earned a scholarship to attend the Theological Seminary in Tbilisi. His mom really wanted him to become a priest one day. But Stalin believed that religion was just...
