Summary: The saying "Home is where the heart is" serves as the most prominent theme in The Odyssey. Odysseus undertakes his brave, courageous, and risky journey in order to return home to Penelope and Telemakhos.

The most prominent theme throughout The Odyssey is most definitely "home is where the heart is." Odysseus follows this theme throughout the story showing bravery and courage, while risking it all to get back home to the ones he loves.

Firstly, Odysseus loved his wife a great deal, and would do anything to return to her. He fought Poseidon's terrible fury. He ventured down to Hates and back again, even though it was incredibly terrible and repulsive down there; he did it all for her love. Penelope, too, loved Odysseus, and waited patiently or him to return home, so she, the beautiful queen (who I might add could of had any other male in the world), could have her king. Penelope did not marry any of the suitors trying to court her; instead, she sat awaiting Odysseus. Also, she even respected Odysseus's wishes for her...
