News in the papers has been reporting about Valuair, the airline which I have been interning with, and its so called merger with JetStar Aisa.
So is it a merger or an acquisition
Reading all the reports, what would you conclude on a deal which only offers you a seat out of eight in the board? A plain take over! What say would you have in this offer? 17%++? Rather powerless. So why do they still want to call it a merger? Then I realized it was pride issue. First it looks good on Valuair's side; secondly merger makes the entire combination sound bigger, which it really is, whereas a takeover makes the minority sound as if it has died or is dying.
