The Notebook

Summary:   How the notebook represents the power of love!

The Notebook

By Stephanie Pittman

The film I choose to represent the power of love was the notebook. I feel this is the perfect film to represent that theme. The notebook was so sad. The movie is set up where Ally, who is the one of the main character, has Alzheimer and Noah, who is the other main character and is also Ally's husband, is very old! Ally lives in a home and everyday Noah goes to the home to visit Ally and read to her. She always gets real into the story not knowing that the story he's reading to her is about their life. How they met, how they fell in love and what happened after that! Well to help you understand they met at a fair. Noah was with his friend Finn and Ally was with her friend. Once Noah saw her it was like love at first sight but she didn't see it like that. So he went straight up to her and asked her to dance and immediately she turned him down to dance with another guy. I guess he doesn't take no for an answer because while she was on a Farris wheel he climbed up the Farris wheel and asked her out on a date while hanging from the bar. And once again she turned him down so he toke one hand of the bar and asked her again and at that moment then she said yes but then she pulled down his pants. That was how they met and they started dating and before you knew they were in love. Ally's parents didn't like their relationship but they knew it wouldn't last because what Noah didn't know was that Ally was only there for the summer and the summer was going past real quick and before you knew it was time for Ally to go and Noah well he was really mad. Everyday for a year he sent her letters.

365 letters and she didn't get one because her mother hid every last single one of his letters. So he thought she forgot about him and she thought the same thing so both went on with their lives. Noah went to war and Ally became a nurse for those who were at war. And after the war Ally was nursing with one of her patients had asked her out and soon enough they to fell in love and became engaged, but it she didn't feel the same about him as she did Noah . And when she thought she was over Noah she realized she wasn't when she found a picture of him in a newspaper so she decided to see him. And once again they fell in love. Ally didn't know what to do and finally her mother came clean. She finally told Ally that she did hide every letter Noah sent her and she pulled them out of the trunk of her car and gave them to Ally. Ally was still confused whether to stay with Noah or Lance. So her mother thought of a way to help. She brought Ally to a nearby place and Ally was confused. Her mother pointed out one of the workers and told her that he was once her love, but her parents didn't also didn't approve that is why today she is married but not happy to Ally's father. She told her don't make the same mistake I did and after all that she finally went with her heart and married and even had children with Noah. And the sad part is that in the same bed at the same the same time they both died in their sleep together, but it was the power of love that made her remember everything for a while and it was the power of love that made him everyday go see Ally to try and let her remember knowing it wouldn't last just so he can spend those few minutes with her, holding her, and kissing her.
