Marathon Preparation

Summary:   Essay on preparing for an endurance event like the marathon. a marathon athlete must be sufficiently prepared in order to compete at such a level. With environmental conditions of 28 degrees and 90% humidity, the task is somewhat complicated, and further preparation must be made so that performance levels are not threatened. If preparation incorporates nutrition, hydration, psychology and training techniques, then the outcome of the race is almost certainly likely to be improved.


Performance can be affected by a number of factors, especially is the specific case of a marathon. Conditions of 28 degrees and 90% humidity over an extensive time period can be potentially detrimental to the athlete's performance if adequate preparation is not undertaken. These conditions have the impending possibility of causing an early onset of fatigue due to both the heat and the humidity. Various preparation techniques can be observed to cater with the given conditions. This preparation can be for a variety of factors including:-

Nutritional

Hydration

Psychological

Overall training style to suit a marathon

If preparation for such an event is not undertaken it is almost certain that the athlete will not compete to their potential, meaning that preparation is essential.
