Summary: This is the basic plot of The Grapes of Wrath, written by John Steinbeck, a fascinating aventure from Oklahoma to California, and Steinbeck wonderfully depicts his characters. Includes basic plot summary and character outlines.
Plot: Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath is the story of the Joad family from when they have just been told to get off of their farm in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, follows the family through their journey, and ends during their first winter in California. In this novel, there are a total of thirty chapters. Sixteen of these talk about the Joads and their experiences. The other fourteen are interchapters, which discuss what is currently happening to the other migrants as a whole, and shows how they are being affected. Steinbeck used these interchapters to portray his general observations of the lives of the migrants, and give the reader a better idea of the big picture.
