Cataluna, also known as Catalonia or Catalunya, is possibly the most geographically diverse region of Spain. It is located in the northeast of the country and is bordered by the Pyrenees Mountains to the north and the Mediterranean Sea to the east. Although the region is only about 32,000 square kilometers in area, it encompasses a wide variety of landscapes and attractions.

Cataluna is made up of four provinces, each of which is named for its capital. These regions are Barcelona, which contains more than one-third of Cataluna's residents, Girona, Lleida, and Tarragona. There are several important cities in Cataluna, which include Barcelona, Girona, Figueres, Lleida, and Tarragona.
