Summary:   Although water quality has been monitored by the local government not much has been made to quantify or analyse health benefits or disbenefits. To protect ones health is protecting the whole of society, therefore companies causing water pollution should contribute in assisting with the costs associated with health damages caused by water pollution. This essay examines the Escondido report and the macroeconomic effects of water quality.


Introduction

The article "Escondido report blames local firm for water pollution" is addressing the issues of water pollution base on the chapter of Externalities. Water pollution is addition of harmful substances to human health, the health of the environment and quality of life. Water pollution is a negative externality. This essay will be focussing on the main aspects of externalities and how these concepts are related to the article "2 companies agree to help pay for gold-mine cleanup", which relates to water pollution.
