Throughout life, a person must overcome the most difficult of obstacles. Sometimes it is easy to give up hope, but courage can get you through. The main character in Harper Lee¡¦s To Kill a Mockingbird, demonstrates this courage through the resilience of the character Atticus in Tom Robinson's trial. His actions help reveal this theme of courage, as well as the authors use of symbolism and imagery.

Atticus Finch was dealt some tough cards in this story. He is a single father raising two kids, while being a successful lawyer.
