Stories always have a protagonist and an antagonist. The protagonist in this story is Mr. Angelo Pignati(The Pigman) and the antagonists are John Colan and Larraine Jensen.
The Pigman was nicknamed this because his last name was Pignati and he had a great collection of glass pigs.
John is a charming young fellow who always causes trouble. He is tall, has brown hair and very big eyes. He was really bored with school and used to bomb bathrooms. His nickname was the bathroom bomber at school. In his career of being the bathroom bomber, he bombed the bathroom 23 times and never got caught. He then changed to the fruit roller and used to make the student roll undernourshered apples when a substitue is talking. He smokes, drinks, and is not very compassionate. His parents never understand him. They are really old so he nick named him the Bore and Old Lady. They always compare him to his smart older brother Kenneth.
On the other hand, Lorraine is very compassionate. She is not the gorgious person alive but she acts like herself. It's what you see is what you get. She is kind and always eats too much. Her mother always thinks that she might be overpowered by men. She never understands Lorraine and her problems.
This all started when, John, Lorraine, this kid named Norton and Dennis played a game. (Norton was nicknamed the Marshmellow kid becuase be got caught stealing marshmellows once. He always steals and acts tough because people make fun of him because of the marshmellows. Everyone hated him including John and Lorraine). The game was to pick a random name and number out of the phone book and call them. They had to keep that person on the phone for a long time. It was Lorraine's turn and she chose Mr. Angelo Pignati also known as The Pigman. She made belief that she was from a charity and was collecting money. The charity was called the L&J Fund. The Pigman agreed to donate $10 and asked them to pick it up the next day. While conversing, Lorraine noticed that The Pigman was a very lonely person because his he kept on making jokes and wanted to talk to Lorraine. The next day arrived and Lorraine was hesitante on going but soon, John forced her to go. When they got there, she really thought that The Pigman was lonely because his home was really dirty. He invited them in and since then, John and Lorraine went to the Pigman's house almost everyday and even skipped school for it. They would go to the zoo where they met Bobo, THe Pigmans favorite pet baboon whom the pigman adored. The pigman took John and Lorraine to the zoo and bought them things. What was really appealing to John and Lorraine was the way The Pigman was like a child.
One day, when they were playing in the pigmand's house with the new rollerblade that the pigman had bought them. Not taking into consideration that the pigman wasn't a young child, he ran after John but soon, all the running made him have a heart attacked and the pigman thombled over down the stairs. They called the ambulance and told the people anything to their questions and told them that they were his kids.
The Pigman was doing good and he insisted that Lorraine and John make themselves at home in his home while he is in the hospital. They did so and the first night there, Lorraine dressed up in Conchetta's, the pigmans decist wife, dress and John dressed up in the pigman's clothing. John was acting rediculously saying that she was his long lost love. John grabbed Lorraine, thinking in her midn that she was beautiful, and kissed her. After that, there was something awkward about them.
The other night, the night before the pigman was too return home, they had a little party. They invited a few friends but the few friends invited a few friends and a few friends invited a few friends until there were 40 or so people at the party. There was a band and evevything. Of course they didnt invite Norton but he came anyways. He like usual stole something and broke a lot of the pigs. John tried to prevent that but he got hit and got knocked out.
Thinking that the party was great, something bad happened, the pigman decided to come home early from the hospital. When he came home, everything was broken, Helen, one of Lorraine's fat friends ripped one of Conchettas dress and everything was a reck. The pigman dropped the charges and let the police take john and lorraine home. At Lorraine's house, her mom smacked her and the first thing of everything her mother asked was whose dress is that. But Lorraine told her everything htat happened wit the pigman and she understood. At john's house, his parents didnt do anything except that morning, his father told him that he was too see a phyciotrist.
They met the next morning and got up the guts to call the pigman and invited him to the zoo. At the zoo, the pigman was still glum about his house and his heart problem, came to see that Bobo had past from pneuomia last week. Then and there, The pigman had another stroke and died. John stayed by the pigman's side while lorraine told people to get help. The ambulance came and took him away.
Both John and Lorraine both feel responsible of the death of The Pigman but they made up an excuse that the pigman shouldn't of acted the way he did;like a child. But they knew that even though they might have caused this since he called him that day but kind of made The Pigman's life a little better because of all the company and enjoyment that the Pigman had with them.
The theme of the pigman is that there are events in peoples lives that effect them so strongly that they will never forget what happened to them or the lesson they learned from the experience.
