Mohandas Gandhi

Summary:   One of the most respected spiritual and political leaders of the twentieth century, Mohandas Gandhi spread his message of non-violent civil disobedience throughout India and several other Brititsh colonies. Through the use of civil disobedience, he spearheaded the successful campaign for India's independence from Great Britain in 1947. Believing that women were just as equal and gifted as men, Gandhi also helped to resolve the conflict on the rights of women in India.


Mohandas Gandhi was on of the most respected spiritual and political leaders of the twentieth century. Between 1890 and 1940, Gandhi spread his message of non-violence civil disobedience throughout several British colonies, especially during the fight for independence in India. Mohandas Gandhi has spread his philosophies and beliefs throughout the world, making him of the most respected leaders of peace.

Gandhi Graduated from Great Britain where he studied to become a lawyer. With his booming career and financial wealth Gandhi traveled back to India to spread his beliefs. One of the larger messages Mohandas Gandhi wanted to spread was civil disobedience. He believed that a person should be sincere, respectful, never defiant, and have no ill will or hatred. He felt this was the key to civil disobedience. In South Africa Gandhi won his passive resistance.....
