Aggressive Animal Analysis
In the book The Island of Dr. Moreau animals are treated in an absurd, inhumane manner. These animals also undergo a significant amount of pain for no apparent reason, and in spite of this brutality, do not have any alternative to this cruelty.
Unnecessary pain and suffering is encountered when Prendick, an unexpected "visitor" to Dr. Moreau's island, apprehends "A sharp, hoarse cry of animal pain came from the enclosure behind us. Its depth and volume testified to the puma"(38). This profuse slew of pain received by the puma is quite needless.
The wide variety of animals used in Moreau's experiments is seen when Prendick took notice of a human in anguish. "But this time it was.....
