Evolution of Rock and Roll

Summary: Nearly everyone is familiar with rock-and-roll music, but nobody knows how it started. A study of rock-and-roll's origins reveals that technological advances in music, particularly the electric guitar, influenced it heavily; and that rock-and-roll evolved from numerous other styles of music, including the blues, jazz, and rhythm and blues.
Rock and Roll is a style of music that nearly everyone is familiar with, but nobody knows how it started. I myself am a guitarist whom has spent over seven years studying this particular style of music, but has never really thought about its origin until now. The more I tried to relate rock and roll to other styles of music its origins became even less obvious. That is why I chose this topic on which to base my graduation project. Through this project, I plan to find out such information as when rock and roll was created, who created it, where it originated, and what other styles of music it evolved from. I also plan to find out what other factors may have aided in its birth, and how rock and roll is different today in contrast to the earlier days.
