Provides a character analysis of Lyra Silvertounge from the novel The Golden Compass, written by Philip Pullman. Describes why she is a magnificant character in literature.

I am writing a Characterization on the Character, Lyra Silvertounge from the novel The Golden Compass, written by Philip Pullman. Lyra is intelligent, Courageous, and Caring.

Lyra proves to be intelligent by reading the alethiometer. When she got the alethiometer, it took her two weeks to understand it without any books. It takes adults on an average of ten weeks with the books to study from to understand it. It takes so long to understand because there are ten different pictures and each picture can mean fifteen different things. An example from the text that proves this is, " 'I understand that you are in possession of an alethiometer,' he said, to her great surprise; for how could he have known that? 'Yes,' she said, and then, prompted by a nip from Pantalaimon, added, 'Would you like.....
