Italian Renaissance Art

Summary:   Provides a brief overview of artists, paintings, and sculptures of the Italian Renaissance period in art. Examines the significant influence the art has had on society and future art.


"The finest use of living is to create a work of art that will outlast man's petty wars and insignificant squabbles" (Andrea del Verrocchio). When Verrocchio, popular Italian Renaissance artist, had intentions to create art which could withstand "man's petty wars and insignificant squabbles", he had no idea his art and art like it would last at least 700 years. Renaissance, French for "rebirth", was a movement of arts starting in Italy and spreading throughout Western Europe. The most memorable works of Renaissance art, the paintings, captured emotion on which the culture could relate to. The sculptures crafted still stand throughout Italy, and defy not only typical beauty, but they defy what was considered acceptable during these times. The amazing art had shaped the course of history for the better, and had improved day to day.....
