Real Estate Investing

Summary: Profits in real estate can come about by being lucky. However, the most successful real estate investors spend countless hours doing first-hand research about the area in which they plan to invest before spending a single penny on a property. In addition, the investor can borrow the money with which to purchase real estate, and the investor can control the return on the investment through improvements made to the property and what sits on it. These factors make real estate investment a safe way to make money.

In the past five years, people have seen a significant change in the stock market. The 1990's brought a feeling of prosperity to many of those who invested in the stock market. However, since the year 2000, many of those investors are no longer able to afford to live a life of luxury. In contrast, those who decided to invest in real estate are enjoying positive investment results. The real estate market has had its ups and downs, but it has generated a steady increase in value over the past several decades. While real estate investors watched some properties double or even triple in value, stock investors watched their portfolios decline significantly or get completely wiped out. Direct real estate ownership is available to many, while it is harder for an investor to buy an entire company. Thus, most stock investors are passive, have no control over the company...
