Problems with Euthanasia

Summary: Euthanasia should not be considered as an option for people who suffer from terminal illness or severe disability. Studies have shown that over ninety percent of those who committed suicide had suffered from mental illness. In addition, euthanasia is sinful in most Christians' eyes, and there are more and more new techniques to help control or reduce pain so that people can live better lives.
There are few arguments on whether the decision to kill yourself is a private choice in which society has no right to be involved. This statement refers to people who are planning on committing suicide and believe that society has no right interfering with that decision. Although according to those who study suicide, this statement is wrong. In 1974 a British study was done. Using medical records and many interviews, the results had shown that ninety three percent of people who have committed suicide were mentally ill. Also in St. Louis a similar study was done in 1984. These results had shown that ninety four percent of those who committed suicide had a mental disorder.
