My topic is the use of performance enhancing drugs by athletes competing in high school. Drug use by athletes has been a major problem discussed by various committees and officials. Many athletes use performance enhancing drugs to gain a competitive advantage and to improve their athletic ability beyond the levels of their competitors. Athletes that compete in swimming may use stimulants to help them fight fatigue. These stimulants include various types of amphetamines. Weightlifters and football players use Erongenic drugs; these drugs build body mass and increase growth hormones. Experts and officials are researching, the question why athletes use drugs? There are numerous factors contributing to drug use by athletes: 1.media, 2.social status, 3.financial rewards, 4.coach, and 5.peers. If athletes continue to use drugs, health risk will arise in the future.
