Ancient Egyptian Government

Summary:   How the Egyptian government operated under the pharoahs.

In my opinion I feel that the Egyptian government organizes very well. The pharaoh at least is able to make a chain so one after another thing is taken care of.

The king's roles are the greatest duties one can have and the powers are the strongest one can have. As we listed down in our t- chart the king we found out has a lot of duties. The king is responsible for leading his army into war. He must trust his soldiers to come victorious or the may lose their territory.

I am sure the king enjoys his powers but some are stressful. The king is a director of many things as the director of a movie. The king directs all government, laws, trade, and foreign policy. To most people of ancient Egypt he is seen as the mediator between the people and the gods. He is also kept happy and cheerful for it is believed that he can influence the weather, animal, and plants.

Another thing that functioned very well with the Egyptians that there government was built in levels like a pyramid. On the pharaoh is the one who makes all decisions he is given only the most important jobs as we learned in class.

Second there are the viziers. They are needed to carry out the orders of the pharaoh (top) and are in charge of Upper or Lower Egypt but are still not as important as the pharaoh himself (top).

Third come the governors they are the ones who make decisions about the districts. That is exactly why a governor's job is to control the districts. They are able to make own decisions but not as big.

Forth come the mayors. The mayors are in charge of controlling towns. The will make the little changes a town may need to function properly.

2nd to last come the officials, scribes, and messengers. Their job mostly is simple and easy a bit. The officials would just report back to the pharaoh or government telling if everything was going on fine. Scribes were very important since only a few knew how to read or write. Scribes would copy official documents or write contracts on etc, for the town's people. The messengers kept record on the land and how it was being used. They helped the king get a better view of his country and see what was wrong.

Lastly the department consisted of treasury, royal works, cattle, granary, and foreign affairs.

Those few levels helped the Egyptians categorize and order there kingdom in a great way which must be so wonderful that we still rule the America similarly.

Over all that Egyptians also had too pay tax. Since there was no money too go around Egyptians paid with what they did for a living. Hunters would pay in meat, farmers in grain, etc. 1 person from every household had to pay the tax. Still the king was kind to farmers because if your piece of land was far from the Nile you pay less, if it is close then you pay more which is sort of fair.

With all these things together Egypt lived in harmony.
