The Unpredictablity of "Donnie Darko"

Summary: Film devices and unpredictability in "Donnie Darko," a movie directed by Richard Kelly.
Director Richard Kelly combines vulgar comedy and captivating science fiction to create a thrilling story of a troubled teen's battle with himself. Donnie Darko, the main character, has befriended an imaginary six foot tall bunny who tells him the world will end soon. Donnie's therapist believes he is a schizophrenic, and his sanity is questionable throughout the movie. Donnie Darko is an uncharacterizable movie which has traits of every type of movie you can imagine. It could be categorized as a comedy, science fiction, or even a horror film. The plot of the movie keeps viewers on the edge, and it's impossible to predict what will happen next. But, the ending of Donnie Darko is disappointing because of its dark conclusion. Despite the dark ending, Donnie Darko is a great movie because it has the components of every movie in the spectrum, and its unpredictable plot.
