Summary: Examines the William Shakespeare play, Hamlet. Describes why Hamlet is one of the most complex characters any playwright has ever placed onstage. Discusses Hamlet's strugges and conflicts.
Hamlet, a well-known, historical play, written by William Shakespeare is about the Prince of Denmark. He, one of the most complex characters any playwright has ever placed onstage, was dealing with the murder of his fathers death committed by his Uncle Claudius who went on to marry Hamlets mother, Queen Gertrude even before she was able to strive through the mourning period. Throughout the play, Hamlet experiences numerous conflicts within family members and friends. Hamlets main struggle, though, is to decipher whether or no he should kill Claudius and avenge his poor fathers death, or to follow the ordinance of the church and let heaven deal with Claudius's eternal punishment. Throughout the entire play Hamlet plots the murder of Claudius due to the killing of his father. Yes, various times throughout the play he does seem quite sincere but yet he finds himself continuously making excuses to delay...
