Summary: A review of anorexia nervosa literature and the possible causes of this eating disorder.
Anorexia Nervosa is an eating disorder that has been around for years. It is usually seen in females ages 10-20, although their have been cases where males have been diagnosed with it. Many say that it is the media giving them images of how you should look with top stars in magazines and TV. Many researchers are now saying that it could be genetic. A recent study showed that teens are more likely to develop an eating disorder if their parents had one, compared to those who parents were healthy.

In one article I read about anorexia, an African American female stated that the myth of media images with thin models encourages anorexia, may be wrong. She did her own research and seen that doctors went to Ghana and found that six out of 668 subjects had signs of anorexia. Those six that were found were wealthy and had...
