"Sunday in the Park" Compared to "The Other Wife"

Summary:   A dynamic character is one that undergoes an important change in the course of the story. In "Sunday in the Park," a short story by Bel Kaufman, Morton's wife's view of Morton is very different at the end of the story from what it was at the beginning. In "The Other Wife," by Colette, Alice's view of Marc changes drastically.


Often in life, one's view of a person he or she loves changes over time. This is true in stories as well. A dynamic character is one that undergoes an important change in the course of the story. In "Sunday in the Park," a short story by Bel Kaufman, Morton's wife's view of Morton is very different at the end of the story from what it was at the beginning. In "The Other Wife," by Colette, Alice's view of Marc changes drastically.

At the beginning of "Sunday in the Park," Morton's wife is content with Morton, but at the end of the story her opinion is very different.
