Summary:   Details the unequal treatment of womem in Afghanistan. Describes the personal story of one young girl and her experiences and depicted in her personal journals.


Fatima Sahidi, 12, daughter of Manzar and Hamid Sahidi, a young ambitiouse girl full of happiness and couriousity about the big world around her . Fatima's family was one of wealth and highly educated individuals. Mr. Hamid Sahidi her father owned six lamp shops around afghanistan. Four of the six were located in Kabul, were Fatima and her sister Sima, 14, were born. The other two shopes were located in the smaller villages surounding kabul. Mrs. Sahidi was a family physician in a clinic near by their own home which was located in the heart of the city on banhijil St. They were a typical loving family unit, the girls were always the center of attention. Their father was slightly strickt about school and.....
