Comparing Shakespeare and Marlowe

Summary:   Compares the writing style of Elizabethan playwrights William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe. Describes how their plays are similar in themes, mood, and characters.


William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe were both Elizabethan play writers in the mid fifteen hundreds. Their plays are alike in many ways. Shakespeare and Marlowe's plays style can be compared to be similar to each other. There plays are alike through themes & mood, and similarities between characters.

In many Shakespeare's play themes of how power corrupts is used. This is also true in Marlowe's "Dr. Faustus." In "Macbeth" this theme is true in Macbeth killing King Duncan so he would become king. "Sleep no more, Macbeth does murder sleep." Macbeth kills the king to be able to be king and have power of Scotland although the King had never done anything wrong to him.

In "Hamlet" this theme is also used. Claudius kills King Hamlet so he is able to be king and rule the throne.....
