The Human Desire to Categorize the World

Summary:   An exploration of the human attempt to place a label on every person, thing, idea, etc. and to generalize all aspects of life into groups or categories.

It is difficult, and maybe even impossible, to understand the nature of humans completely. The motivation behind our likes and dislikes, what we interpret as right and wrong, and our tendency to ask, "what is it"" before "how does it work"" is a question that falls into gray areas and can many times just baffle us. However, one thing is obvious. We the human race, are confused by those gray areas, therefore we feel the need to force as many people, things, places, beliefs, etc. into safe categorizations. Having everything in its place seems to give us a sense.....
