The poem "The Odyssey" and the movie "O Brother Where Art Thou" are very much alike. For example some characters have the same names, both main characters are on journeys and other characters play similar roles as those in the "Odyssey" .

The first similarity between the book and the movie is Both main characters are on a journey to get their wives back. Both Odysseus and Ulysses were in similar situations where they had escaped from a jail, Ulysses was in a jail and Odysseus was stuck on a monsters island. Each character had been separated from his wife in one way, Odysseus's wife was back at home and Ulysses was attempting to win his wife back.. They both also at one point were in disguise.
