There are three great western religions that through history have globally expanded throughout the world. One of those western religions is Islam. Islam was first introduced and developed on the Arabian Peninsula. Islam, like Judaism and Christianity, is a monotheistic religion. Islam means "submission" to one god. When an economy began to develop in the Arabian Peninsula and the city of Mecca played a major role in the prosperous economy.
