The Titantic: The Unsinkable Ship

Summary:   A history of the Titantic, and the lessons it teaches us.

Bulit by White Star Line, Titanic was an Unsinkable ship. Titanic was a grand ship built by hands of men. Some people called it the "Millon Dollar Man's Special." It was grand. It was designed by Mr. Thomas Andrews And Mr. Bruce Ismay. Mr. Andrews wanted Titanic to be the most plesent and glorous ship in the history of history. Mr. Andrews and Mr. Ismay made the ship have another layer on top of the ship and had 16 water tight compartments. If the ship struck an Ice burg (Which it did) Or a ship,

The captin would pull a lever and 4 compartments doors would shut and trap the water inside the compartments, making it unsinkable. The captins name was Mr. E.J Smith.Mostly everyone would sail on his ship because is was nice and he drove the ships correctly. Back to the compartments, The ship would only stay aflot with only 4 compartments flooded. The layer on the ship would make it so the ship wouldn't go through the actual ship,so the water wouldn't flood the hallways. Mr. Andrews and Ismay was perfectly sure it wouldn't sink. A man even said that God himself could not sink the ship. He was defintly wrong. On the day of it's compleatsion, It was as long as three football fields and 10 city blocks. It was 880 feet long and nine inches. It was as tall as a 20 story building. 100 feet high. Everyone thought the ship was heaven. It was sailing on April 10, 1912 at 12:00. Alot of famous people were on there. There was Mrs. J. Brown. Her husbend was a goldminer and found tons of gold. She was at Englend when she found out and was heading back to America to see her husbend. She was already rich, because her husbend had already found gold.

John Jacob Astor was the most richest man in the world and was sailing on Titanic. He was on his honeymoon with his new wife Melinoe. Finally, the steam funnels were blowing and Titanic was on her way. There was 2,228 on the ship.It was at Englend and was heading towards Newfoundland and Ireland. When It picked up everyone, Titanic was in the middle of the ocean. The First three days were doing perfect not a ice burg in sight. But on April 14, ships were sending ice burg warnings. The captin just said," Just turn farther down south" The last ice burg warning was from the Californion, the messagenger was very busy delivery notes, because the day before, the telegrapher broke down and it had to be fixed. The Californion said there was more ice burgs down south. The Messager was grumpy and just said "Shut up, shut up,I'm really busy."

The Californion signed of for the night. At the crows nest it was 11:20. One lookout had no benoculars and couldn't see anything really.

10 minutes later, at 11:30, a lookout spotted a blue shape in the distense. He relizied it was a ice burg straight in Titanic's Path. He called the office and said that there was a ice burg right ahead. "Thank you." Said the person who got the call. He told the captian who was in chare because the real captin was sleeping.

He steered to the left and took a little while. Finally it was moving. Everyone thought it was going to miss, but there was a scraping sound and a raming sound. Titanic had struck the ice burg. The Captin came rushing up the deck and was saying waht had happened. The crows nest said that they had struck an iceburg. The captin asked if the watertight compartments were shut. They were. They went to go see Mr. Andrews. He was an expert on the Titanic. They were talking and Mr. Andrews said "There are 5 compartments flooded. The Titanic can only stay aflot with 4 compartments flooded. Its going to sink to the bottem of the sea in about 2 hours. 3 the most." He said. The captin was shocked to hear the news.

"Gather all the women and children to the life boats and start filling the lifeboats with them. Make sure everyone has on a life jacket on." The captian said. The stewards and stewardess's was rushing to rooms telling people to get on there warmest clothes and life jackets and report to the deck. Half of the people listened. At 1:50, all the life boats were gone and Bruce Ismay was in the life boat. The captin was gone and in the water. It was 2:18 and the Titanic was almost floating up straight, but it snaped in half. The half was in the water and was sink while the other half was bobblig up straight. Then moments later,it was sinking down. At 2:20, Titanic was gone, forever into the sea. 750 people were in the life boats, while 1,500 were in the water.

One lifeboat came back and rescued 7 more people, half of them died of the coldnest. The water was a couple degrees over freezing. To cold for living. 1,500 people died of the cold water. About 5 hours later, the survivers were saw by a ship called the Carthaipa. It rescued the survivers and the people shared there rooms.

The dining rooms became nursing rooms. When they arrived at New York. People hoping to see there loved ones. Many did not. On July 14, 1986, 74 years after Titanic sank, A titanic researcher named Dr. Robert Ballard Was looking for Titanic. It took months and years to find Titanic. Finally,on the 14 of July 1986, they were at the bottem of the ocean in the Argo, a mini sumberine that took Mr. Ballard and his crew to the bottem of the ocean. The couldn't see anything until a crew member spotted a dish. And they saw more scatted things and went farther until they saw a big ship in front of them. Robert said "It's The Titanic!" They looked at for hours and Robert left a note that said let Titanic be and don't take anything. People didn't listen. Titanic was a lesson to remember;Ships are not unsinkable
