What Factors Affect How High a Ball Bounces

Summary:   An experiment in the physics of bouncing balls.

1. Planning

Aim

To investigate if different types of balls effect how high they bounce.

Method

I am going to drop six different balls from 1m and measure how high they bounce. I will drop each one three times to get the best possible results. Then I will find out the averages and make a graph.

Prediction

I predict that the balls that are hollow and have thicker shells will bounce less than the solid rubbery balls. So when the balls bounce they will be different because they all have different elasticity. Also the heavier the mass of the ball the more GPE it has and it should bounce more than balls with a lighter mass and less GPE.

Background Knowledge

Energy changes from one form to another.

Gravitational potential energy is the energy stored in an object because of.....
