Every race, nationality, and religion has felt the fury of another group's narrow-mindedness and ignorance. Because what many people see as unfamiliar or substandard to them, they automatically regard it as something they must control or belittle. Through the centuries it has forever remained a never-ending battle. Many groups have endured segregation such as Jews, Roman Catholics, Latin Americans, Asian Americans, Native Americans, even homosexuals, and the list goes on and on. But at the end of the century, after the Reconstruction, African Americans were the main focus of bigotry in the United States.
