In the novel, Looking for Alibrandi we see a number of changes that occur to the lives of Josie and Christina due to the relationship with their parents. From the beginning to the end of the book, we see a strong relationship between Josie and Christina, Josie is influenced by her mother a lot, this causes Josie dilemmas and having to make decisions that she is not keen on doing such as going out with John Barton and staying away from Jacob Coote. On the other hand Christina and her mother Katia's relationship is not very good, Christina is not given freedom by her mother resulting in a number of significant changes that include the way she sees society and her attitude towards Josie.
