Plot Summary of Cyrano De Bergerac

Summary:   This brief plot summary of Cyrano De Bergerac explores the tale of the man who, though not considered handsome, has a beautiful heart. It discusses his emotional struggles, and how he learns the real meaning of beauty.

Cyrano De bergerac, a true story about a man with a true heart, doesn't have the features that a girl looks for dealing with looks, but has every feature a girl looks for on the inside, in his heart. Roxanne, his love, is in love with him and doesn't even know it. This story deals with emotional struggles with love as well as friendship struggles that Cryano goes through.

Roxanne, a beautiful woman, just wants someone to love her for her soul and not just because of her looks. At first she meets Christian, a good-looking man that she starts to crush on. She tells Cyrano about him and that makes Cyrano upset. She doesn't know but he is in love with her. Roxanne gets letters that are supposedly from Christian that seduce her to fall in love with whoever wrote them. Christian asked Cyrano to write letters to her because he can't write poetry well. This causes Cyrano to get upset because he doesn't want someone else to take credit for his poetry that he truely means towards Roxanne. Cyrano, being the good friend he is, writes letters for Christian and Roxanne falls in love with him, not knowing that Christian is not even writing them. Roxanne falls in love with the wrong person and doesn't even know it.

Cyrano, a well hearted man, only wants Roxanne to feel for him like he feels for her. He would do anything for her. This shows that he loves her a lot unlike Christian.

Cyrano fought in battles against many men for Roxanne. Roxanne doesn't want Cyrano because of his looks and his deformed nose. What she doesn't know is he has the heart of one in a million. Noone can love her like him and feel the way he felt for her. He was so in love with her he would write to her many times per day. Roxanne ignored Cyrano and had no idea he was in love with her and had no idea he could write poetry as well as he could. After Roxanne found out that it was Cyrano that wrote all that poetry for her, she got mad at first and hated him for playing childish games. She then realizes he only did it because he is a true friend to Christian. Cyrano realizes he played with emotions but he didn't know how to tell roxanne he was in love with her while she liked Christian.

Roxanne then learns to change and look beyond the imperfections of Cyrano's looks and looks into his heart where she finds true love. This is when Roxanne realizes looks aren't everything and it is what's on the inside that counts.

Cyrano De Bergerac is a love story about Roxanne, a woman who thinks she found true love when it is right under her nose and she could not even see it. She doesn't see the true love because she cared about looks. Later on, he learns that it is not alwyas about how a person looks, it is about what is on the inside and how they feel on the inside. Roxanne realizes this later in the book and learns to look beyond the imperfections of Cyrano because that is truely her love, not Christian.
