Summary: The film Cry Freedom is an exploration of apartheid in South Africa, and Steve Biko's leadership of the oppressed blacks. Biko sparked the freedom movement against the white government that lead to the ultimate demise of apartheid. This essay includes a description of the conditions of apartheid.
The movie, Cry Freedom is about how the blacks of South Africa lived during the Apartheid regime. During the Apartheid regime, there were many restrictions placed on blacks. They were told where they could go, what they could do, and what they could talk about. The military security during this time was very corrupt and would often make false statements and accusations on the black community. The focus was on motivational leader Steve Biko; Biko believed in the movie that all blacks should have the same rights as whites. Biko would often try to rally the blacks to support his beliefs. His actions promptly led to his death.
