Summary: This is a brief bio of Renaissance-era painter, sculptor and architect Giotto di Bondone. Di Bondone worked primarily with religious subjects, but unlike his contemporaries, portrayed them in a more realistic light.

Art History Report on Giotto

Giotto di Bondone a Florentine painter, sculptor, and architect. Giotto is most famouse mainly in the traditional religious subjects but made his paintings more realistic by showing that Jesus and his followers were more human then other painters showed. Giotto was born in 1267 A.D. in a small village near Florence, Italia and lived in that area until the year of his death (1337 A.D.). Ciambue, a well-known florentine painter was said to be the man that discovered the talent of a young boy named Giotto di Bondone. It took some persueding but finely Ciambue convinced Giotto's father to allow Giotto to become a pupil.
